Boy Meets World
Artist: Fashawn
Album: Boy Meets World (CD +DVD)
Release Date: OUT NOW!
This is the kind of hip hop that the world needs more of: honest hip hop. We’ve all heard songs about violence and drugs and despair, or tunes boasting how much money the MC has but that’s only a small piece of the pie that is life.
Fashawn hails from Fresno, CA and he isn’t a gangster, he isn’t rich and isn’t afraid to be real with his music. Boy Meets World is his debut full-length and I can only hope that every album he makes hereafter is equally as good. At only 20 years old when he recorded the album, Fashawn displays a lifetime’s worth of hard-learned knowledge. His story weaves its way through growing up in despair, family issues, interpersonal issues and a whole slew of things that would make most people just give up. However, the enlightening aspect of this album is that it has an overwhelmingly positive tone. Despite the hardships and the general unfair nature of his life, Fashawn finds the positive and delivers an uplifting listening experience.
With production by Exile and guest appearances by Blu and Aloe Blacc, this album is sure to be in your regular rotation for months.
